‘[untitled, things that make me anxious]’ by Sophie Fenimore

You can spot it every time
by K.G. Ricci

[untitled, things that make me anxious]

Green eyes and the Smiths and the Cup
Song and Michael Franti. Violins and
concert halls, dandelion giggles and the
field of architecture.

Puzzle piece foam tiles in red, yellow, blue
covering concrete basement floors.
Harsh overhead lighting.
Brass doorknobs turning.

Gray Toyota Corollas and
slushy midwinter roads. The
phrase, ‘ambiguous loss.’
January, February, June.

My tinnitus and my twiddling thumbs
and your mother’s voice, saying,
“Integrity is what you have when no
one else is watching.”
