A mending

A gilt green mean today is. Sulphur sun, undisguised, lacquered in

lilac sky, surely warms. Spring standard. Through the picture window it

lukely saunters and I open the office door so the cat, jejune, can bask in

the oblique light. A triangular illumination resting against the shadow’s

shape. It comes to mind, this chiaroscuro before me, a form of luminous

Kintsugi.

The feline, unlike the artform, isn’t concerned with the joinery. She,

of repair, contorts herself, fitting roundly within its light. There is no

rejection of history, no beauty being belied. There is only the magnetism

of heat—the lot of light.
