‘Love Language’ by Agnes Vojta

Love Language

I say my love language is baking.
That is only half true,
because, really, it’s poetry –

but baking is a socially
acceptable substitute,
and more innocuous.

I appear normal when I hand you
a basket of muffins
rather than a sheaf of papers.

For every poem
I wrote to you,
I will bake you a cookie.

You can share them
with all your friends
and nobody, not even you,

will think more of it than
wow, this person
is really into baking
.
