Messages from the trees on 39th street

Cherry
Petals form pink streams,
foam like bubble bath on sidewalks,
decorate parked cars as parade floats.

Unidentified
Crime Alert! Car break in!
Police check shattered windscreen,
arrest fallen branch

Oak
Leaves plaster pavement
like jigsaw pieces scattered
between two corners

Jean Janicke is an economist, coach, and writer.  She lives in Washington, DC, United States.  Her work has appeared in Green Ink Poetry, Paddler Press, and Honeyguide Literary Magazine.

Kevin Vivers has been a photographer for over 40 years and is constantly amazed by what the world has to offer if one just takes the time to see it. He has no preconceived notions as to what he is looking to photograph and with an open mind and eye his images are very instinctual, reflexive. Not spur of the moment but watchful of those moments as they come into view.
