The Sun Comes Out and Changes How Your Face Compels Me
it’s June and
I love you and
we have this whole day
from the top of the dune
we can see the whole lake
meeting the whole sky
all the blues are true
all the galaxies are bowls
of milk stirred with a spoon
there are so many trees
you ask me to help
you count them
there are so many
grains of sand
we sit and brush them off
our feet and back
to their Andromeda
we are only life sized
some other kind of deity
we can stand
one foot on a beach
one in the waves
we can ride home
with the windows open
we keep counting
the whole day
the total number
out ahead of us
on the road
pine-needle green
and full of light
