To The Woman Arrested For Breaking Into The Public Pool At Moonlight
after Kim Addonizio
If you’ve ever been girdled, formed your toes into
a triangle just so your calves could be defined, worn
a shirt over the bathing suit you spent hours trying on,
looked away while you’re telling the truth, made eye
contact when you were lying, said it was a butt
dial when you wanted to talk, immersed
yourself in bath water, instead of answering,
spilled mustard just to make a Rorschach,
played hide and seek, when no one was looking,
kicked your foot through the wall on accident,
said you’re fine on purpose, checked out
the ass of someone at church, cried being praised,
believed only vodka could help you call your brother/
come back tomorrow night, I’ll show you a way through
the chain link.
