Words Make Fear, Bodies Make Love
I read myself in the mirror today,
the face a chapter I’m re-remembering,
took the sea-journey of my eyes
& settled on an unfamiliar wine,
run my own hands on the skin
under the eyes, the back of my head
gaining some familiarity. To blink
there at myself is to turn a page
in the library of the human body.
The body is always right; it’s why
they want to burn it & why I’ve got
to live another day—just to see
what happens next.
